The Dedication of a new Standard for the Royal British Legion (Republic of Ireland District) took place on Sunday, 19 May, in Saint Paul’s Church, Parish of Glenageary.

The Service on Pentecost Sunday, also commemorated the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landing.  As Rector, The Rev Garry Dowd officiated, and the Sermon was delivered by The Rev Peter Rutherford, Chaplain Royal British Legion (Republic of Ireland District).

The D Day Commemorative Prayer, written by General Dwight D. Eisenhower, was read to the congregation.

The Colour Party with the New Standard furled and at the slope moved forward to the chancel steps, and was delivered the New Standard to the officiating clergy. The New Standard was unfurled and dedicated by Rev Peter Rutherford, assisted by Rev Garry Dowd, who then placed the unfurled New Standard at the Altar.  The New Standard remained on the Altar until after the Service.
